Angel glared at the two newcomers in the doorway. One was an uptight-looking brunette. The other a frightened blonde beach boy. Apparently her threats hadn’t gotten rid of them. The tiny brown-hired girl took the lead.

“Hi, we’re here on behalf of the Righteous Army of Christ.” She shoved a pamphlet at Angel. “Do you know that your soul may be in danger?”

Angel rolled her eyes. “You don’t say?”

The brunette continued on like she hadn’t spoken. “Sexual deviancy…” She leveled her glare to where Bucky and Manuel sat together reading a magazine, “ is not only harmful to the psyche, to the family unit, it’s also against the Lord’s view of the world.”

Angel tugged the lollipop Byron had given her, to keep her from smoking, out of her mouth and met the brunette with dead, blank eyes. She tossed a look to the still shocked-looking shaggy blonde next to her. “Is he your boyfriend?”

The brunette’s forehead wrinkled in confusion. “I don’t see how that…”

The beach boy next to her chimed in. “Yes.” His questioning eyes met Angel’s. Angel stood back absently. “We’ve been dating for about two months.”

Angel shoved the lollipop back in her mouth and took a swig off of a non-alcoholic beer, “Neato.” Her eyes focused on the blonde’s. “What’s your name?”

“I…” the blonde watched Angel carefully. “You don’t know?”

Angel let out a snort. “Why the fuck would I know? You think I memorize every idiot Bible thumper’s name who comes to my door?”

The brunette cut it. “His name is Marlon, Marlon Looki, and he’s a soldier in Christ’s Army, same as me.”

Angel was unimpressed. “And you are?”

“Rachel Hanley.”

“Do you guys live together?”

Rachel looked confused. “Well,…”

Marlon cut in instead. “Yeah, for the most part.”

Angel crossed her arms over her chest and smiled slightly. “Figured as much. Tell me, during all this living together, do you guys fuck?”

Rachel’s face immediately flooded bright red. “I don’t think…”

Marlon cut in again. “Yeah, we do.”

Rachel’s face managed to turn even more red. “That has nothing to do with anything,” she nearly shrieked. She glared at Bucky and Manuel, who were cuddled up close in the open doorway. “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination, Leviticus 18:22". She finished her statement smugly, glaring at Angel.

Manuel and Bucky looked horrified, but Angel merely smirked. “Oh, we’re playing this game now?” Angel yanked here lollipop back out of her mouth and her eyes took on their dangerous, unbalanced look. “‘But if the thing is true, that evidence of virginity was not found in the young woman, then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones, because she has done an outrageous thing in Israel by whoring in her father's house. So you shall purge the evil from your midst.’” Angel shoved the lollipop back in her mouth. “Deuteronomy 22:20-21.” Angel tilted her head at the white-faced Rachel. “Wanna keep going?” Angel clutched her hands against her chest as though in prayer and met Rachel dead in the eye.
